Round Top is a friendly small town in Texas, said to have received its current name from “the house with the round top”–an early stagecoach stand. We checked with the Round Top Chamber of Commerce, and they said that one of their people just recently went door-to-door and counted 90 residents. We believe there are at least triple that number of longhorn steer living in the town. It’s a beautifully sublime location to host an equally quaint and inspiring retreat such as ours.
The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell includes 46 acres of idyllic, peaceful landscape and has 5 buildings, including the original farmhouse dating back to the mid-1800’s, where guests can enjoy their stay. Be sure to check out the following video of the property here!

- Each participant should optimally have an intermediate level of experience with fine silver fusing and basic metal smith techniques. Students should be comfortable using a hand-held butane torch, and have a basic understanding of the tools on a metal smith’s workbench such as various hammers, the bench block, jeweler’s saw and a variety of texturing tools.
Do you need to be an expert jewelry designer to take this series of classes? Not at all; Anne is exceptional at meeting her students at their individual level.
And, with only fourteen students, the amount of personal attention she can give her students is going to be awesome!
