The history of Mesa dates back at least 2,000 years to the arrival of the Hohokam people.
The Hohokam, whose name means "The Departed Ones", built the original canal system. The canals were the largest and most sophisticated in the prehistoric New World.By A.D. 1450, the Hohokam had constructed hundreds of miles of canals many of which are still in use today.
Mesa offers a variety of enjoyable things to see and do, from exploring the legacy of Native American culture and the pioneer history of the Old West to Broadway musicals and state of the art interactive museums.
Each participant should optimally have an intermediate level of experience with basic metal smith techniques. Students should be comfortable using a hand-held torch, and have a basic understanding of the tools on a metal smith’s workbench such as various hammers, the bench block, jeweler’s saw and a variety of texturing tools.
Do you need to be an expert jewelry designer to take this series of classes? Not at all; our instructors are exceptional at meeting students at their individual level.
And, with a limited number of students in each workshop, the amount of personal attention our instructors give their students is awesome!
