Jessica Jordan Coté | The Embellished Bezel | Monday, February 3, 2020 | 9 am until 4:30 pm

Stepped bezels are commonly used for lifting stones and adding substance to a statement ring.  In this class, students will work to create a custom bezel from scratch, flipping the step inside out and placing it on the outside of the bezel wall as opposed to the traditional orientation. The exterior step will be adorned with filigree components and small bits of granulation, creating an embellished setting that manages to allow the stone to remain the focal feature of the ring.  Techniques covered include tinning, sweat soldering, forming, and setting. Students will also be introduced to a milgrain tool for applying decorative edges and details.
