Robert Lopez | Full Bloom | Thursday, February 7 and Friday, February 8, 2019 | 9 am until 4 pm

Two day workshop to include:

Layering & Texturing. This workshop will focus on layering textures and fusing them together, giving this organic pendant depth dimension.

Rolling Mill. We will pass the silver sheet through the rolling mill to change some of the textures previously applied to the sheet giving the metal subtle yet interesting textures.

Argentium Sterling Silver: We will cover the benefits of working with tarnish resistant Argentium Sterling Silver. Argentium is a silver alloy that is whiter and brighter than traditional sterling and can be annealed softer and hardened beyond traditional sterling.  We will be fusing Argentium silver granules, water casts, sheet and wire; enabling us to cut back on solder joints.

Water casting.  A demonstration will be provided instructing students on the basics of making water cast using scrap silver. The cups and disc formed during the demonstration will be used by students on project pieces.

Bezel setting. I will also instruct students on the process and benefits of constructing a thick wall bezel with notches for setting a cabochon. Robert will offer several types of stones for students to choose from.

Granulation. Melting silver into balls used to bridge gaps with fusing techniques.

Stamping. Stamping textures into the silver in random patterns using hand filed stamps adds a quick and easy way to add texture.

Patina & Polishing. Students will have the option of adding a colorful patina and a bright shiny polish to the silver.

The workshop will also cover texturing, soldering, patina, forming, filing, sanding, shaping and finishing.  This project has a lot going on with many techniques yet can be tweaked to make it your own, so if you sign up for this class bring your A game!!!!
