Tonya Davidson| Slider Pendant: Mountains, Valleys, Gold oh My! Reticulated and Granulated Silver and High Karat Gold | Saturday, February 8th, 2020 | 9:00 am until 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm

Create a richly textured pendant in advanced silver and gold techniques.

-how to use a German blow torch along with a EZ Orca Torch – expand your torch knowledge and learn heat control

-how to eutectic solder or fuse granules to the surface of metal (no solder!)

-how to make granulation glue and granules

-how to reticulate 80/20 silver and then enrich the surface

-how to frame your sheet shapes with various wires and soldering setups

Students completing this class will leave with an understanding of how to add round ball elements (granules) in both silver and gold to their work without solder.  Granulation is an Etruscan technique that is 5000 years old!  Plus you’ll learn how to reticulate.  A special 80/20 alloy of silver allows the torch to melt the middle “Oreo” section of the sheet, causing the top and bottom to wrinkle into mountains, ridges and valleys.  This original and never duplicated sheet will be framed to create a strong focal for this one-of-a-kind pendant!

Students will leave with an understanding of many ways to work with silver and incorporate a little gold.  Not to mention I always pack the class with handy bench tips and tricks. I’m teaching 2 other classes that cover texture-fused sterling and steel fused with high karat gold.  All of these techniques can be mixed and applied to pieces to achieve a very custom look.  Join me for all 3 classes!

This photo depicts the potential of what you will learn while making your own designed pendant. You will create your own pendant with your own design.   More photos will be coming to show you  more examples!
